More Twiistup Coverage from Strutta

Below you will see an embedded version of the video I took while at the event, but I really only used that as an excuse to blog the photo of Mike at right:

Mike was the life of our booth at Twiistup, and wore the white tuxedo possibly better than one has been worn before. Mike is presently recovering from having his wisdom teeth out, but will be back at the helm of developing the new Strutta release very soon.

If you're anxious to see a video tour of the pool area at Twiistup, feast your eyes:

Strutta Rawks Twiistup4, Seeks Launch Partners

At Twiistup4 last Thursday, we chose the event as the time and place to announce our business model.

To reveal our plan for "white label contest sites for companies," we stayed true to the theme in all-white tuxedos, handing out white labelled instant photos (taken with a Fujifilm Instax camera, as Polaroid's are no longer available). We even had a demo verson of what a contest micro-site might look like, made specifically for Twiistup4. Photos of us at the event can be viewed at this link.

For the new release we're taking the existing technology behind Strutta and adding plenty of customizable options, custom domains, loads of flexibility and just about every feature that companies need to hold contests with user-generated content.

We've already started discussions with a number of companies who are interested in becoming "Launch Partners" for our new software, but we'd be happy to speak with you if you are interested in working with us to be one of the select few that we announce as partners for the initial launch of our new product.

If you're interested in finding out more, fill out the form below, and we'll be in touch:

Help Strutta Showoff at Twiistup 4

Strutta Selected as Twiistup Showoff

The Strutta crew are down in Santa Monica tonight, walking on water at the Viceroy Hotel for Twiistup 4

The Twiistup crowd will be selecting their favorite start-up represented at the show and friends and fans outside the party are encouraged to get in the action by texting a secret code that Maura and Jordan will no doubt be spreading around the Internet shortly. So even if you couldn't grab a ticket to the event, you can still whip out your iPhone and help Strutta win best-in-show!

Curt Cherewayko of Business in Vancouver printed a story about our Facebook Group and domain: BringCaterinaAndStewartHome.com.

There are still no answers as to what they might decide to do next, but we'll sure to update you when we know.

Miss USA falls and we learn Swahili

When you're watching videos on the internet today, you could, like most people, watch that clip of Miss USA falling at the Miss Universe pageant- a clip that accounts for 18 of the top 100 videos on YouTube at the moment, including the top two most watched videos - or you could do something more productive, like learn Swahili!

Silent Movie Review: Wall-E

Settling into our desks this Monday morning, we discover a message from one of our Youtube friends, "McGoiter" who wanted to tell us about his new silent movie review for Wall-E. As "Chuckles McFlairnigan," he's done a series of silent movie reviews, and since we all want to see Wall-E anyway, we were delighted to see this one:

How to make popcorn with your computer

At this point, most of us have seen the horrifying videos of cellphones popping popcorn. Even though everyone seemed to know the videos were fake - the comment streams on YouTube were full of people insisting there were hotplates under the table - I still wrapped my head in tinfoil and the popcorn meme spawned its own mini-meme: people trying to prove how the popcorn videos were faked. One guy dismantled his microwave, another group failed to pop corn but made a steak dinner with cellphones and way too many people actually got together and tried to replicate the original video with their own cellphones. So how did Cardo Systems, a Bluetooth headset-maker, create this viral campaign? Just good ole digital magic. CEO Abraham Glezerman explained how it was done, yesterday on CNN (see video below).

Flash Mob! Who Will Create the Strutta Game?

It's a popular phenomenon these days: plan an event with hundreds of your closest friends, and stage some sort of public stunt. Get it on video and call it art. Repeat.

The folks from Improv Everywhere have done a great job of this, and now they're inspiring copy-cats like the Adelaide "No Pants" stunt, or today's featured video, the Trafalgar Square freeze:

Jake & Amir Master the 2:00 Comedy Sketch

For over a year now, Jake and Amir have released a short comedy sketch every couple of days, usually from their desks at the CollegeHumor.com offices in New York, creating one very likeable and sympathetic character in Jake, and one of the most grating, pathetically annoying characters ever, in Amir, masterfully played by Amir (who isn't actually like that in real life). These guys have perfected the skill of conveying gut-tingling, awkward social moments in two-minute bursts. I'd take two minutes of original creativity on the Internet over 20 minutes of recycled jokes and laugh tracks on television any day. Lately, the show has really come in to its own with more complex narrative techniques and better production quality. The last couple of episodes were especially good and you can check them out on their website at www.jakeandamir.com

At Strutta, It's OK to Make Friends

Just a friendly reminder to Strutta players that while Strutta plays hosts to a number of hotly contested competitions, it is ok to make friends here, even if most competitors these days aren't doing it that way:
